Ironistic’s 2021 New Year’s Resolutions

Iron Insights

New year, new Ironistic? Not quite, but as a digital agency comprised of employees who strive to make impacts online and offline daily, we’re thrilled at the opportunity to embrace changes in 2021 — professionally and personally! Check out the resolutions our team members hope to make as we say bon voyage to 2020.

Checking Myself On The Little Things

Each year, I try to give myself a silly resolution and a challenging one. Of course, we’d all like to get into a regular routine of fitness, healthy eating, cooking, etc. That’s just a life goal! But what are some of the little things that I can work on without necessarily realizing it, that’ll make a larger impact? Let’s start silly. A few years ago, I wanted to like olives. Thought it’d be fun to eat Mediterranean food without avoiding them or order a dirty martini when out with the family. Still working on this one… you win some, you lose some! Along the same lines, this year I’d really like to understand spices and how they will enhance my meals. What will mix together well? What can I add to my repertoire of cooking? Only time will tell. Challenging resolution – Last year, I focused on my “filler words” during public speaking and presentations. Much harder than one would think, but it’s been a great mental shift for me! This year, I’m working on reducing the number of paper notes I use and consolidating them into shared digital notes. It’s unlikely that I’ll ever stray from making physical to-do lists, but the next step is definitely a work in progress! Check back with me in 11 months to see how I’m doing.

Positive Routines and Habits.

This past year has finally come to an end. With the new year, it means a fresh mental start for my New Year’s resolutions. Knowing what we went through one year ago with COVID, I have already been reflecting and comparing where I am now and then. With knowing there is so much out of my control I think I’ll be setting goals that are small and bitesize. Personally, I’d like to focus on a variety of items and setting up routines and positive habits. One day a week: Meatless Mondays, exercise (treadmill, weights, or a sport if possible: soccer, hockey), and going out to eat. So I can check on 4 things: physical health, mental health, social fun, and local food. Professionally, I need to really carve out time to find a hobby that aligns with programming, automation, and/or VR or possibly AI.

Evolving As A Whole

I have several professional resolutions, but the overall theme is evolving and finding further efficiencies in myself and our processes to continue making positive impacts internally and with our clients. I fully believe that when our clients succeed and improve we share in that success. Personal resolutions are to focus on the positive moments and things that I can impact with the most effective change. While 2020 was a rough year overall, taking time to find the good definitely helped me push through. I will be taking that a step further this year and making the most positive changes possible for myself, friends, family, and coworkers.

Hitting The Refresh Button

A new year is always a nice way to hit the refresh button and take note of the things going well and the parts of your life that may need a boost. Professionally, I’m finding new podcasts, YouTube channels, and forums to learn about new trends, best practices, and hear about other marketers’ experiences. It’s an easy way to connect with others in the industry and gain knowledge at any time of the day. Personally, I’ve made exercise non-negotiable and so far, I’ve seen a major shift in my attitude and energy levels. Holding my feet to the fire on something that benefits my health will ultimately have a nice ripple effect in all parts of my life.

Stay On Top Of Changes

As our world continues to change, so does Human Resources. My professional New Year’s resolution is to stay on top of the new guidelines determined by a new administration and the COVID/remote work environment. Since I’m not able to see family and friends as much as I used to/as much as I’d like to, my personal resolution is to stay in touch with phone calls, texts, cards, etc. Human interaction is even more important during this pandemic.
