Tighter integration with every other internal system. The past couple of years saw a growth in “marketing automation” (one of the most misleading descriptions for marketing software ever!), but little true integration with other internal systems like CRMs, social media management tools, email marketing platforms, accounting software, etc. Look for a higher degree of integration between marketing and internal operations in 2020.
While Google and social media aren’t going anywhere, 2020 will see a big shift in how users interact with ads. Most people want to cut through the noise and marketing jargon. They want businesses that engage with their audience, and they want companies who are constantly doing the right thing. Advertising efforts must continue to be hypertargeted going into 2020 to make sure you’re giving your target audience exactly what they’re looking for.
Social sharing bots will become more intelligent, and businesses will be able to trust what they develop more and more. This will lead to a higher buy-in by businesses in using these bots to handle a portion of their social sharing needs. (This will probably lead to a negative reaction from Google in 2021 that will put less and less weight in things they deem as “bot produced” content.)
Video content continues to thrive, as long as the clip is to the point…or funny and contains cats. 🙂 Time is of the essence and undivided attention is dwindling. Video content affords the ability to acquire the information by visual, written, or both…whichever way you are able to at the time.
Hm, this is a hard one but one trend I think that we’ll see even more of in 2020 is shoppable (yep, I made up a word) posts in social media. This is currently all the rage in Instagram, and I think you’ll continue to see this grow. I also think you’ll see continued popularity of video marketing with short videos.
I think Google’s People Also Ask SERP feature is going to play a big role in SEO for 2020. This is definitely something to consider implementing in SEO strategies!
