Since 2001, the PenFed Foundation has raised more than $30 million in financial assistance for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. This includes providing 125 grants for the purchase of a first home in 2017 alone. Through the foundation’s signature annual events, Military Heroes Golf Classic and Night of Heroes Gala, they’ve raised millions of dollars, which go directly to their programs that offer Emergency Financial Assistance, Family and Caregiver Support, Dream Makers Home Buying Assistance, Interest Free Micro Loans, Disabled American Veterans – Emergency Financial Assistance, and Veteran Entrepreneurial Assistance.

As an organization whose mission is to give back by raising funds via awareness of their cause, an online presence with the user functionality to learn and donate is essential. The PenFed Foundation approached Ironistic because their old site was simply outdated and couldn’t function properly or support its necessary features. They needed something accessible, effective, and dynamic.
Ironistic's Solution
Working with the PenFed design team, Ironistic coded a striking design with an engaging format and bold colors and graphics. Front and center are call-to-actions for donating and applying for aid — two key goals for the foundation’s new site. The scroll-down navigation also showcases compelling success stories and priority information about events and the foundation’s mission. Headers and subheaders also highlight the call-to-actions, and interior pages for Programs, Partners, Events, and About Us feature user-friendly infographics that easily get their message across.
We even built a custom timeline feature and event feed to help maximize the site’s impact. The one-two combo of architecture and design effectively promotes the PenFed Foundation’s purpose, accomplishments and goals while giving donors, veterans and active-duty military members easy avenues to get involved.
